Last Saturday I had the all inspiring priviledge of being involved in a Charity Breakfast function put together by the awesomely talented team of Amelia and Kim of Woman2Woman (www.woman-2-woman.co.za). The event was held at Moyo, Big Bay and the chosen charity for this breakfast (they run 4 a year) was "Nicky's Drive". Nicky herself is a true inspiration, and wonderful character. Having been born with no arms and shortened legs, Nicky has not only managed to lead a fairly normal life, attending a mainstream school, adapting her skills and participating in all activities; she also has a university degree from Stellenbosch (now practicing as a clinical psychologist) AND... wait for it - can drive a car! She is, in fact, the only person with no arms in South Africa to be able to drive a car. Nicky has had her current fully modified vehicle for 16 years and is raising funds to get a new one. The modifications alone cost a cool half a million, and can only be assembled and fitted in the UK. Anyway, enough from me - go to Nicky's website at www.nickysdrive.com where you can watch a short clip of her driving and learn more about how this amazing young woman inspires, enables and motivates others...
Amelia and Kim, thank you for the opportunity to work with you, your functions are incredible - the prizes, giveaways and auctions items are spectacular, and I'm SO looking forward to being your "resident photographer" at the next one!
